THE IMPACT OF ROAD PRICING AND WIND FIELDS ON VEHICULAR AIR POLLUTION
In spite of government efforts, air pollution from motor vehicle traffic is a major problem in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The proposed Tokyo Action Plan declared a traffic demand management scheme in order to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality. Such policies involve road pricing that would directly reduce the total of vehicle emissions, but the net effect within a local area must depend on the wind fields. In this paper, the impact of vehicular road pricing and wind fields on vehicular air pollution was examined using the Road-Environmental Model.
