ADMINISTRATION PROCEDURES AND WORKING METHODS FOR THE REPAIR AND RESTORATION OF BRIDGES

PROCEDIMENTI ESECUTIVI E MEZZI D'OPERA PER LA REALIZZAZIONE ED IL RESTAURO DELLE STRUTTURE

Repairs and maintenance carried out on the bridge over the Po River (Milano-Napoli motorway), and the Leira viaduct (Genova-Savona motorway), are described and illustrated. Repairs to the Po bridge included: restoration of exterior deck and pier surfaces, renewed drainage and beam-end protection, the repair of spalled under surface areas near to slab supports, and the removal and replacement of mobile deck supports over the piers. Repairs to the Leira viaduct consisted mainly of the restoration of damaged concrete, caused principally by water infiltration, scour, and the corrosion of reinforcing steels. /TRRL/
