MOST IS ON THE ROAD - THE OPTICAL MULTIMEDIA NETWORK IN THE NEW BMW 7 SERIES
The first vehicle models with a MOST optical multimedia network are on the road. Being the first to launch a MOST vehicle, BMW presented its new 7 Series at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September last year. All multimedia and infotainment components of the vehicle are connected to an optical MOST network. It is consequently designed to meet the MOST Cooperation standard. Proving Series maturity of the MOST Specifications, this first launch of a MOST vehicle was a very important step for MOST Cooperation. BMW took the lead, but others are following closely. Several models with MOST Technology from DaimlerChrysler, Audi, Volvo, Porsche and others have been launched meanwhile or will be launched soon. The paper offers an overview of the innovative features of the car and shows how they have been realized based on MOST Technology. It shows the advantages that MOST Technology offers to a car manufacturer. And it describes the major parts of the technology, the standardization and the future use at BMW and other vehicle manufacturers.
