A METHODOLOGY FOR STATEWIDE REGIONAL ITS ARCHITECTURES
A methodology for developing a set of statewide regional ITS architectures is presented. An example application of the methodology is shown drawing upon the set of regional ITS architectures covering all ITS services in the state of Florida. Key elements of the methodology are: training for stakeholders, architecture development consensus building workshops, use of an automated database tool (Turbo Architecture) for ITS architecture database development and maintenance, a hierarchical aggregation of ITS stakeholder elements that are common across peer regional ITS architectures across the state to a "central services" ITS architecture, and an architecture documentation approach that creates a hyperlinked CD-ROM or website as the output of the regional ITS architecture development process.
