CONCRETE AGGREGATES - STRUCTURAL
Data are presented on the types of aggregate available in New Zealand: greywacke-argillite, volcanic rocks (basalt, andesite, phonolite), and sedimentary rocks (limestone, chert, conglomerate). The influence of aggregate properties on the durability, resistance to wetting and drying, resistance to freezing and thawing, resistance to heating and cooling, abrasion resistance, alkali-aggregate reaction, strength, and shrinkage of concrete is analyzed. Mention is made of the N.Z. Standard NZS 3121 governing the selection and testing of concrete aggregates. /TRRL/
