THE INFLUENCE OF SYSTEM COMPRESSIBILITY ON THE OBSERVED PORE-PRESSURE RESPONSE TO AN UNDRAINED CHANGE IN STRESS IN SATURATED ROCK

The author refers to earlier work concerned with the derivation of an expression for the undrained pore-pressure ratio, in which attention was drawn to the difficulty of obtaining truly 'undrained' observations due to system compressibility. This paper considers the derivation of the undrained pore-pressure ratio with correction for system compressibility, and the importance of this correction is indicated by examples based on test data. /TRRL/
