The two volumes of these proceedings contain 124 papers presented at the conference covering: bearing capacity policies, concepts, costs and condition surveys; analysis and modelling; design and environmental effects; construction; maintenance and rehabilitation; reflective cracking; field tests for layer moduli evaluation; bituminous mixtures; unbound granular materials; soils; case histories; and a section devoted specifically to railways. Rigid pavements, flexible pavements, and low traffic roads are included, as well as airport runways, taxiways and aprons. The section on railway tracks includes those with ballast and the newer high speed slab tracks.
