THE NOISE OF THE AUTOMOTIVE SAFETY AIR CUSHION

Since passive restraint systems might still be required in all automobiles in this country, there is continuing interest in the use of the safety air cushion. The noise caused by the deployment of the cushion has been of concern since it was first envisioned, although field experience with the latest system has not resulted in any known hearing disability. This paper, presents various aspects of safety air-cushion noise.
