CARIBBEAN PORTS SET THEIR OWN PACE FOR EXPANSION
The prospect of the start-up of the Caribbean Overseas Lines between Europe and the Caribbean is proving to be a catalyst for the development of container handling facilities at many of the smaller Caribbean ports. While some ports plan to install costly container cranes, others have more modest plans, but all seem aware of the increasing need to cater to containers. The author describes the expansion plans at Kingston, Port au Prince, Santo Domingo, San Juan, Port of Spain, and Barbados.
