ON PROPULSION OF ICEBREAKERS
The performance of a diesel-electric propulsion system is compared with other propulsion systems with special consideration of geared diesels and controllable pitch propellers. The influence of ice loads on the choice of icebreaker screw parameters and strength requirements are discussed.
