RELATED PROBLEMS IN TRANSPORTATION IN THE ATLANTIC REGION
This paper attempts to identify the role assumed by transportation in the development of a regional economy, with particular reference to Canada's Atlantic Region (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland). In discussing the role of transportation in regional economic development, this paper tries to answer a number of important questions: How important is transportation in the economic development of the Atlantic region? In what ways does transportation stimulate (or retard) regional development in the Atlantic Provinces? What governmental transport policies inhibit the economic development of the region and how should they be altered?
