SDDOT ORGANIZATIONAL HEALTH ASSESSMENT 2002. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report offers an organizational health assessment of the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) in 2002. The assessment and its findings must be evaluated in terms of where the organization wants to be in fulfilling its mission to its employees and to the people of the State of South Dakota. Four objectives provided a solid foundation directing the activities and tasks undertaken to complete this study. They were: to measure the SDDOT's employees' perceptions and level of satisfaction regarding organizational health; to identify the SDDOT's organizational strengths and weaknesses; to evaluate progress in making desired changes in the SDDOT's organizational culture, through comparison of the current assessment with the baseline measurements of the first assessment; and, finally, to refine a survey instrument that can be used to periodically assess the SDDOT's organizational health.
