GUIDANCE FOR TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGIES: FUEL CHOICE FOR FUEL CELL VEHICLES
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) commissioned this study to support target setting and progress monitoring for its direct hydrogen fuel cell vehicle program. DOE Office of Transportation Technologies supports proton exchange membrane fuel cells for transportation technologies. Targets are being set by comparison of direct hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles with alternative fuel and powertrain options. This report assesses the implications of different fueling and powertrain options on vehicle efficiency, carbon dioxide emissions, cost, and safety.
