GETTING IT RIGHT: ACCIDENT PREVENTION AND REGULATION
There were five papers presented at this PACTS (Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety) conference. These were: (1) the government's review of transport safety arrangements (P Kirk); (2) the European experience: the Dutch Transport Safety Board (P van Voltenhoven); (3) Principles and practices (A Taig); (4) Why investigations matter : the victim's perspective (P Dix); (5) railway regulation and accident investigation (V Coleman). There are also four case studies: (A) The railways (R Muttram); (B) Aviation (R Profit and J Passmore); (C) Marine (E Brookes and M Storey); and (D) Road safety (three papers): (i) RoSPA : Work on 'key occupational health and safety issues; (R Bibbings); (ii) Traffic accident investigation - the practitioner's viewpoint (P Forman); and (iii) getting it right : accident investigation and regulation across the modes (S Green).
