NEW GOVERNANCE PRINCIPLES FOR SUSTAINABLE URBAN TRANSPORT. IN: NEW CONTRIBUTIONS TO TRANSPORTATION ANALYSIS IN EUROPE

This paper deals with the role of transport and telecommunications networks on urban environment, underlining the well-known negative factors caused by transport in urban areas, as well as the positive effects that may generate from the exploitation of telecommunications technologies. However, the paper takes also a more unusual perspective by providing elements and suggestions for claiming that transport has positive effects on urban development and that transport restraint policies are not always the right and more efficient strategies to put in place for a sustainable city.
