RESPONSE OF AUTOMOTIVE MARKET TO ENERGY-SAVING IDEAS

This paper examines the problem awareness and concern, attitudes about who is responsible, and possible solutions for increasing the fuel economy of automobiles. Four areas of consumer concern are briefly addressed: purchase behavior, usage behavior, automobile maintenance, and driving behavior. Each of these areas is examined with respect to the impact on fuel conservation.
