MICROWAVE MOISTURE CONTENT METER ("WILMER" TYPE 16)

The output signal can be applied directly to analog or digital display, or to paper tape recording. Or it can be applied directly to control. The instrument features modular design of the automatic sensitivity monitoring and control circuits, an external "I can't help myself" alarm, and a 15-sec fault location system. The equipment has operated unattended for as long as 10,000 hr without failure. Long-term stability under severe industrial conditions is 0.1 dB at 50 dB. Sensor design allows the sensing to be independent of material density, temperature, and chemical composition. For on-line control of many different products, the equipment may be used with sensors designed for either transmissin or reflection. The system has been successfully applied for such uses as control of sand dryers in glass works, optimization of concrete composition, automatic press control in a silicate-brick factory, and the continuous determination of the heating value of coal dust.
