MOTIVATION OF CONSTRUCTION WORKERS
Effective motivation of construction workers is best achieved by developing the satisfactions inherent in the construction work itself. A basic review of the present motivation theories, anaysis of worker needs and job-site environments, and recent exploratory studies in indicate that there is a great potential for effective motivation in construction work. Therefore, job-enrichment programs suggested for industrial work are not applicable to construction. To formulate programs that capitalize on the existing motivation potential, construction management should develop healthy worker attitudes, administer praise and build respect, and provide for the satisfaction of self-fulfillment needs.
