DEVELOPMENT OF A PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR A MOTORWAY NETWORK
This Pavement Management System defines, allows to define, at a single management level, the optimum pavement maintenance strategy for a large motorway network, within each homogeneous pavement group or family, forming the network in question. For the definition of the strategy, a Markovian dynamic decision model is applied. The transition probabilities used are obtained from the analysis of the data about the network pavement conditions. These conditions are described through the indicators of friction, roughness and bearing capacity. The following shows the application of such PMS on a section of the Italian motorway network.
