THE DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF A COMBINED HIGHWAY-MOTORWAY PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN HUNGARY
The development of comprehensive road management, consisting of pavement and bridge management systems, is considered to be a crucial task in Hungary. In order to attain this goal, which is of great financial significance, special management systems of the optimization type were first created, for the public highway network, the expressway network, local roads, and bridges, taking into consideration their special characters. The framework of a combined highway-motorway pavement management system, as well as of a uniform road pavement management system which utilizes Markov transition probability matrices, has recently been created. The engineering and mathematical models employed are described briefly. (A) For the covering abstract see ITRD E105786.
