ACCIDENTS REDUCED - FIRST CONCRETE SAFETY BARRIER IN BRITAIN

The first length of concrete safety barrier to be installed in the UK has been erected on the a41 motorway at Shepherd's Bush, West London. The safety barrier has a profile designed to ensure that vehicles do not ride over the top. Instead, they are redirected back onto the road with the minimum of damage as the vehicle's suspension absorbs the impact energy by compression. /TRRL/
