AVOIDING MARITIME TRAFFIC JAMS
Globally, more and more ports are turning to sophisticated Vessel Traffic Management Systems (VTMS) to speed shipping traffic and provide a safer all-around passage. The efficiency of a VTMS depends to a large extent on the quality of the equipment. More and more companies supplying this technology are anxious to provide complete turnkey systems to meet the individual demands of various port entities. This article describes some of the current changes and developments occurring within this area of the maritime industry. Examples of specific VTMS supplied to ports in North America, Asia, and Europe are provided.
