INELASTIC DESIGN OF STEEL I-GIRDER BRIDGES
This paper discusses the calculations and presents the results of a detailed inelastic design of a 3-span continuous plate-girder bridge, using suggested new inelastic design procedures. The characteristics of the calculations and the resulting design are compared to those of an elastic design of the same bridge by current AASHTO LRFD procedures. Various advantages, limitations, and implications of the recommended procedures are observed based on this study.
