INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS: SHIFT IN PHILOSOPHY AT FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION
In deciding the core mission of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for the 21st Century, the emphasis is essentially expanding the core mission from just being one of constructing the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) infrastructure to include operating the infrastructure, operating it safely and protecting the natural and human environment. The article examines how this philosophical shift would affect public transit.
