DISAGGREGATE ANALYSIS OF FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION CHARACTERISTICS

The influence of freight characteristics on the choice of truck configurations within the constraints of the truck size and weight regulations and modal competition is presented in this paper. Corridor level analysis is a disaggregate approach that provides both qualitative and quantitative attributes required to address issues relating to the operation, decision making and modal competition in freight transportation at a national or global level. Disaggregate level analysis provides sufficient basis for assessing the likely implications of inter-jurisdictional, such as federal transportation regulatory policy changes on truck operations and modal competition in freight transportation.
