STRIKING SOLUTIONS
Power surges that railroads experience generally come either from lightning strikes to tracks or AC power lines, or from miswired equipment. Whatever the cause, when communication and signaling equipment takes a surge, railroad signals default to red, and rail traffic in the affected areas comes to a hault. This article looks at the teamwork between railroads and suppliers to tackle surge protection problems.
