BOHAI SEA ICE MONITORING USING SATELLITE IMAGES
Sea ice monitoring and forecasting in the Bohai Sea is an operational task of the National Research Center for Marine Forecasts (NRCMEF), China. An overview of current satellite image receiving and processing systems at NRCMEF in relation to the Bohai Sea ice monitoring, including the use of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR), Geostationary Meteorological Satellite (GMS), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) of a European Remote Sensing Satellite (ERS-1), Radarsat, and Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) data, is presented.
