THE PARTNERSHIP FOR A WALKABLE AMERICA
The Partnership for a Walkable America wants to restore walking to the safe, healthful, pollution-preventing, community-building activity it can be. The organization's goals include improving pedestrian safety by reducing motor vehicle-related pedestrian deaths, creating demand for more places to walk, and promoting walking for better health. The Partnership is working to share new ideas in pedestrian safety. It also encourages pedestrian-safety law enforcement. The organization urges communities to enforce school-zone speed limits. Creating more walkable communities and more routine opportunities for physical activity can help reduce pollution, lessen traffic congestion, and improve public safety.
