PALLETS - THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY
There are many myths that exist in the marketplace regarding the handling of shipments on pallets. In part, this paper will try to dispel the following myths: 1. Palletized freight is always cheaper to handle. 2. Linehaul productivity is not impacted by pallets. 3. The cost of returning pallets is minimal. 4. There are no hidden costs associated with the handling of pallets. 5. All pallets and pallet programs are alike. This paper will discuss the handling of palletized freight by less-than-truckload common carriers operating within Canada.
