LOADED WHEEL TESTERS IN THE UNITED STATES: STATE OF THE PRACTICE
Loaded wheel testers (LWTs) are becoming increasingly popular with transportation agencies as they seek to identify hot mix asphalt mixtures that may be prone to rutting. This E-Circular provides the state of the practice on the use of LWTs within the United States as obtained from a review of literature. The intent is to provide background information on LWTs used in the United States and describe the key test parameters, limitations, material sensitivities, and boundary conditions utilized by various LWTs.
