REGIONAL ARCHITECTURES, REGIONAL STRATEGIC TRANSPORTATION PLANNING AND ORGANIZATIONAL STRATEGIES
Regional architecture can be a valuable tool for regional strategic transportation planning by allowing the planner to consider the organizational relations among the institutions providing transportation services in the region. This paper describes how the concept of regional architecture can be expanded beyond technical considerations to include organizational strategies for transportation institutions in both the public and private sector. The paper uses the deployment of TRANSCOM, SmarTraveler and Transtar to illustrate how different organizations providing different services have chosen different organizational strategies
