MODELLING FOR TRAFFIC-GENERATED ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION ANALYSIS
This paper focuses on a model which is used to calculate and analyse traffic-generated air pollution and noise levels in order to reach the desirable situation in terms of environmental capacity under the most satisfactory local environmental conditions. Special attention is paid to freight transport. In this study, an urban arterial road, E Do Hori Route in Osaka city, has been taken as a case study due to the large number of freight vehicles travelling on this road. The results produced from an application of the model developed revealed that this model is a powerful tool which can reflect the real situation and also provides a useful tool in traffic-generated environmental pollution analysis as well as environmental capacity evaluation for urban arterial roads.
