PROPOSED REVISIONS TO 1997 NEHRP RECOMMENDED PROVISIONS FOR SEISMIC REGULATIONS FOR PRECAST CONCRETE STRUCTURES. PART 1 - INTRODUCTION

This article provides background information on the development of the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) recommended provisions for precast and prestressed concrete structures under seismic regulations. In the subsequent articles the specifics of the proposals concerning precast concrete seismic force resisting frames and structural walls and unstopped diaphragms will be discussed.
