FLEET FUEL PURCHASING STUDY. PRIVATE FLEETS
The paper reviews a study that focused on identifying the distribution of fuel obtained by private fleet managers among the following fuel source options: truck stops; self fueling (company owned/operated fueling facilities); card lock; and mobile fueling from trucks at random sites. The design of the study was to provide truck stop operators with quantitative information on their share of the fuel purchased by private fleets as well as the share for the other fuel sourcing options. Additionally, the focus was on reasons offered by private fleet managers for purchasing fuel at specific fuel sourcing options. The study also provides the fleet managers with an opportunity to suggest specific truck stop improvements that could result in increased fuel purchases at those truck stops.
