WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY TO MEET MOBILITY NEEDS
Congestion on the roads has created a modal shift in urban transportation. Commuters who have been used to driving their private automobiles are forced to seek alternative means of getting to work. The article points out that integrated planning is necessary for the rail based sector to take advantage of this window of opportunity. To meet the mobility needs of today's society, railroads must be willing to provide investments and improve the services offered, and take the same attitude as the entrepreneurs and visionaries who developed the railways in the beginning.
