Methods of managing railroad vegetation continue to evolve. There is a growing trend for crossings to be treated off-track with the applicator tailoring the weed control treatment to the specific weeds present. This report discusses innovations that can alter vegetation programs (i.e., site-specific vegetation control at crossings, machine vision for applying herbicides, and a new herbicide for controlling kochia and Russian thistle).
