FHWA FUNDS 84 PROJECTS FOR PILOT PROGRAM
Eighty-four projects totaling $31.1 million will receive funding from the U.S. Federal Highway Administration under the Transportation and Community and System Preservation (TCSP) Pilot Program. In January 1999, Vice President Gore launched an agenda to strengthen partnerships between the government and state and local efforts to build livable communities. TCSP is an initiative consisting of grants and research that will assist communities as they work to solve interrelated problems involving transportation, land development, environmental protection, public safety, and economic development. It was established in the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21) in 1998.
