DEVELOPMENTS IN SPRAYED BITUMINOUS WORKS

Australia is recognised as one of the leading exponents of bituminous spray work and the current techniques in designing and constructing this type of road are discussed. Materials and equipment currently in use are reviewed and the trend toward larger equipment and stricter specifications is noted. Four broad classifications of treatment (prime, prime and seal, primer seal, and reseal) are defined, and a description is given of some variations within each group. /TRRL/
