NEW PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PRIORITY SYSTEMS (PTPS) IN JAPAN
This paper describes various measures taken for improving bus traffic by the prefectural police headquarters responsible for traffic administration in Japan and introduces the recent movements in Japan for public transportation priority systems, including the research and development and experiments of the PTPS which have been conducted by the Universal Traffic Management Society of Japan and the introduction of the system which began on a full-scale basis throughout Japan under the guidance of the National Police Agency.
