APPLICATIONS OF VIDEO VEHICLE DETECTION IN AUSTRALIAN ITS
Vehicle detection by means of video image processing is gaining increasing acceptance in the Australian ITS community. Three examples of current installations are presented in this paper, with some comments about the differing communications scenarios. The examples are (i) truck routing at a weigh station, (ii) direct incident detection in a tunnel, and (iii) data collection for freeway incident detection.
