DEMONSTRATION OF POTENTIAL FOR IMPROVED USER-ORIENTED TRANSIT TO MAJOR TRIP GENERATOR (ABRIDGMENT)
The results of a demonstration project, the UBUS, which provided a direct user-oriented service to a major trip generator, the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, are described. Major trip generators provide a large concentration of trip-making activity around which specialized transit service can be centralized. Project description and project objectives are reviewed as changes in mode choice; and parking use. Conclusions are drawn as to the successfulness of the UBUS service and the potential for widespread user-oriented transit service to major trip generators are examined.
