TRANSIT CONTRACTS AND PROCUREMENT PARTNERING
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Construction Department has been using the concept of partnering in their construction contract administration for many years. This paper will focus on two individual contracts and on how the elements of partnering have influenced them. After a brief description of each contract, an outline which describes what, how, when, where, and why the elements are and were incorporated is given. Other processes and tools used to assist in tracking the contractor's performance, involvement of the Authority personnel, relationships with the contract staff, clear communications, quality assurance, and follow-up on technical issues will also be explored.
