HISTORY LESSONS
Article looks at the contributions of China to the development of bridge engineering. The jungle bridges of woven vines have served their purpose for tens of thousands of years. Over time, simple hanging ropes developed into elaborate suspended structures of bamboo and iron, in turn leading to the suspended steel wire and cable stayed bridges.
