LINK TO THE FUTURE
Denmark and Sweden will be celebrating one of the most significant milestones in their combined histories: the cities of Copenhagen and Malmo will be joined together by a fixed link. The Oeresund link, a 16 km long fixed link with extensive landworks at each side, connected via an artificial island containing a tunnel and bridges at either side, represents a significant investment in infrastructure for the two countries. Cooperation between them has seen a fully integrated client body controlling the process, and a truly international team of engineering consultants and contractors involved in the design, planning and construction of the project. This article pays tribute to all those who contributed to this achievement.
