FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FLOWABLE FILL
Ready-mixed flowable fill is a self-leveling and self-compacting cementitious material with an unconfined compressive strength of 1,200 psi or less. The material is in a flowable state at the time of placement, and it is primarily used as backfill in place of compacted granular fill. Flowable fill reduces costs because no vibrating or tamping is required to compact the material. As a high-density material, it also limits settlement and eliminates maintenance costs. The material's other benefits include improved worker safety because trench exposure is limited. Flowable fill is more durable because it is less permeable than compacted granular backfills, and it is more versatile because it can be used in traditionally hard-to-reach places, including areas around underground pipes.
