HIGH SPEED TRAINS AND SAFETY IN THE NETHERLANDS: REPORT OF A NATIONAL WORKING GROUP FOR DISASTER RESPONSE
This paper describes the results of a safety study undertaken to evaluate the safety and potential design of high speed trains in the Netherlands. The working group who conducted the study used the perspective of disaster planning and response. This perspective was found to be useful in the beginning stages of high speed train design, in that it identified bottlenecks along the planned route of the train.
