INTERNET AND WWW : A NEW APPROACH TO IN-VEHICLE GUIDANCE SYSTEMS
In this paper, the authors present an approach to implementing an in- vehicle automotive guidance system that uses the Internet as the media for transmitting information. The paper begins with an overview of the Internet, examining whether Internet-based services can meet the needs of in-vehicle route guidance systems. The authors then describe the structure of the system and highlight critical considerations when these services are implemented using Internet-based technology. Areas for potential problems and future research efforts are discussed in the conclusion.
