HIGH MARKS FOR MUNI'S SIGNS THAT SHOW WHEN NEXT BUS WILL ARRIVE
This article relates plans by the San Francisco Municipal Railway to install 17 additional predictor signs, also known as variable message signs, on five metro rail lines. The signs inform transit riders about the projected arrival times of rail cars. The technology uses global positioning satellites and cellular transmitters. If the additional signs work successfully, Muni hopes to add additional predictor signs along other routes. The system currently is not able to differentiate between different lines running on the same street.
