THE STATE OF GPS : APPLICATIONS EXPAND, BUT LONG-TERM FUTURE OF GPS MAY BE IN QUESTION
This article examines issues which may be jeopardizing the long-term future of Global Positioning System (GPS). A background overview of GPS is given, and successful applications of GPS, particularly in automatic vehicle location (AVL), are discussed. However, issues such as the lack of single, consensus-backed GPS management agency and problems regarding signal accuracy, may threaten the future of GPS.
