NORTHERN SHENANDOAH VALLEY MODEL DEPLOYMENT INITIATIVE
This article gives an overview of four Model Initiative projects that are part of the Northern Shenandoah Valley Model Deployment Initiative. The first project described is the Northern Shenandoah Valley Public Mobility Program which is focused on providing a network dispatching system involving communications and vehicle location interagency client ridesharing and vehicle sharing with demand responsive and flex-routing. The second project is known as the Pegasus Project which involves the improvement of emergency medical treatment through one-way, real-time video imaging between the local rescue squad and a university emergency medical helicopter. The third project is Travel Shenandoah, designed to provide traveler advisories and information, and tourist information. The final project is the Winchester Medical Center Emergency Vehicle Routing system. This project will focus on institutional coordination, emergency vehicle routing, vehicle tracking, and signal preemption/intersection monitoring.
